About The Location
Iguazu Falls or Iguaçu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná.
The city in Argentina where the Iguazu Falls are located is called Puerto Iguazu, and in Brazil it is called Foz de Iguazu. The two cities are very close to each other - in fact they are only 16km apart.
The semi-circular waterfall at the heart of this site is some 82 m high and 2,700 m in diameter and is situated on a basaltic line spanning the border between Argentina and Brazil. Made up of many cascades producing vast sprays of water, it is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world.
The falls are located in a subtropical rainforest climate zone, so mosquitoes are present and wearing repellent is highly recommended.
Take a tour of the Brazilian Falls with your friends and colleagues, prior to the start of the conference.

USEFUL INFORMATION
Time zone:
In Brazil, Brasília Time is in force, which corresponds to three hours less than Coordinated Universal Time (UTC-3). There is no longer "summer time" in Brazil.
In Argentina, it is also UTC-3.
In Paraguay, it is UTC-4. The country observes "summer time" therefore, please do check the local time.
Toll roads: In all three countries, there are tolls on the highways. Depending on where you are going or where you arrive via land, it is always a good idea to carry a quantity of local currency (from each country).
In Puerto Iguazu, don't be surprised if you are approached, on the road back from the Falls, to pay the tourist tax. The price is reasonable. If you intend to return to Puerto Iguazu another day, keep it and present it so that it will only be charged once.
Exchange:
In Brazil, the currency is the real (R$), in Argentina it is the Argentine peso ($) and in Paraguay the official currency is the Guarani (₲). However, it is common for tourist establishments in the tri-national region to accept all these currencies and the US dollar. For example, if you are going shopping in Paraguay, you can pay in reais, Argentine peso or dollars, at the exchange rate dictated by the establishment you are in.
Don't worry, there are many exchange offices in the three cities. We recommend that you always have a local amount of money, wherever you are, as there are specific cases, such as the Falls on the Argentine side, that only accept payment in Argentine pesos (if in cash) or credit card.
Electricity:
Brazil: 127 V and 220 V
Paraguay and Argentina: 220 V
The socket standards are different in the three countries.
Smoking:
In Brazil, there are specific laws prohibiting smoking indoors and it is allowed only in some places.
